Cris Otepka serves as Lolo’s Angels Board Secretary. He introduced himself to the Hacker family when Lauren returned home from the hospital following her first diagnosis. As a fellow St. Margaret Mary (SMM) alum and blood cancer survivor, Cris felt a special connection to Lauren and has since grown to become a member of the Lolo’s Angels family. Cris was diagnosed with a rare nasal-type non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2006 at the age of 28 and received chemo and radiation treatment at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. He proudly celebrated 10 cancer-free years in 2017.
Cris is a graduate of Creighton Prep and received a Bachelor of Arts in French and International Studies from Saint Louis University. He pursued a career in government relations/national security and spent 11 years working throughout agencies in the Washington, DC, area. Cris and his wife, Noelle, relocated back to Omaha in 2011, where they are now Dundee residents and SMM parishioners.
Cris is currently a government contractor at Offutt Air Force Base and now has two children at SMM, Isabella and Frankie. Aside from being an active father and board member, Cris enjoys cooking, serving as a vocalist at SMM, and participating in endurance sports, particularly as a fundraiser via the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training (TNT). Over the course of five different events, Cris has raised nearly $25,000 through TNT since 2009. In September 2017, he completed the Nautica Malibu Triathlon with TNT in honor of Lolo.
